How I’m Fighting Depression

June 3, 2025 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

I spent time with two friends. I took a walk. I didn't need to take a nap. I've spent the last year living in survival mode. Extreme stress, unpredictability and isolation. As Jackson began to show signs of improvement, I began to feel worse. I wasn't in survival mode anymore, I was Continue Reading

Waking Up From Winter…

May 30, 2025 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

I'm waking up after a long winter - literally and metaphorically. I've lived in Michigan for three years and winter is still hard for this Texas girl. It's not the cold temps. It's not the pretty snow. It's the days and days of gray, overcast skies with no sunshine in sight. Winter lasts forever in Michigan. Summer is winding down and I'll soon be trading beach reads for Fall thrillers and my absolute favorite books - cute, holiday rom-coms! Confession...I didn't make it through the stack of books I planned to read this summer because well... I bought other books that I wanted to read more. That's the story of my life! I just keep adding to my TBR pile. Regardless, I still read a lot of great books this summer. Here's a recap of the six books I finished in August. Summer Hours by Continue Reading

Four Things I Want to Do Before My 40th Birthday

February 20, 2017 by Jennifer

I'll be celebrating my 35th birthday in just a few days. I'm not one of those people who freaks out about getting older (unlike my husband). I have a theory - if you're not getting older; you're dead. Honestly, I don't feel 35. I wish I was still skinny like my 18-year-old self. Maybe in the next five years, I'll accept the fact that God gave me hips. As I thought about this milestone the other day, I realized there are several things I want to accomplish before I turn the big 4-0! These Continue Reading
