Highs and Lows of 2016

December 30, 2016 by Jennifer

As I look back on 2016, there were many mountain top highs and quite a few valley lows. The truth is, I didn't always handle the lows very well. In 2017 I hope to embrace the lows instead of letting them get me down. Special Needs Parenting is a roller coaster ride. I don't want the sudden dips to steal my joy. I don't want the long, slow climb to create a hard heart. I want to enjoy the ride - the twists, turns and sudden stops. I want to feel the thrill even when the moment isn't very Continue Reading

Summer Reading Recap

September 7, 2016 by Jennifer

The Choices We Make By Karma Brown This was my favorite summer read. I couldn't put this book down. It's a story about friendship. One woman robbed of motherhood by infertility and her best friend willing to give her what she wants more than anything - a child. The author captures every beautiful and gut wrenching emotion associated with infertility and surrogacy. First Comes Love By Emily Giffin I always look forward to Giffin's newest book. I preordered this one months ago. I couldn't Continue Reading

Where We Go To Breathe {And the Difference a Year Makes}

August 15, 2016 by Jennifer

We waited all summer to sink our toes into the powdered-sugar sand. It's hard to believe our week at the beach has already come to an end. I'm not sure how I acquired my love for sand and salt water. Growing up I spent summers in the cool mountain air of Colorado. My parents just aren't beach people; but it has become my happy place. Jackson's too. He's quite the little beach bum. We've been home less than 48 hours and he's already asking to go back. Maybe we should relocate? Destin Continue Reading

Seven Things I Learned In July

August 1, 2016 by Jennifer

Fourth of July Is A Favorite I have wonderful childhood memories of the Fourth of July and I keep adding to them the older I get. The one day celebration, smack dab in the heat of summer, has become a holiday I look forward to. I think it's because it's so low-key. There's not the stress that comes with Thanksgiving and Christmas. We grill some hotdogs, invite friends over, spread a blanket in the front yard and watch an amazing firework show. I love watching Jackson's excitement over the Continue Reading

What I’m Reading This Summer

July 7, 2016 by Jennifer

This summer is all about books! I'm not writing as much, but I'm definitely reading! All my favorite authors have released or will release a new book this summer. I've pre-ordered each and every one of them (thank you Amazon Prime)! My beach bag will be full of wonderful stories to get lost in while I sit on the beach in August! Here's what I've read so far ( and the books I'm waiting to find in my mailbox). Pretending to Dance By Diane Chamberlain Aside from the fact that I always Continue Reading
