What I Love About Him {Choosing To Focus on His Gifts}

February 14, 2019 by Jennifer

For so many years we’ve had to focus on the developmental delays. We’ve been focused on his speech since he was 18-moths-old. We had to help him find his voice. These days we focus on helping him learn to read and all the things that make learning difficult.  Our world has been speech therapy appointments, IEP meetings and appointments with specialists.  Sometimes it’s hard to focus on the gifts when things are so hard. But this year I'm determined to focus on all the things I love Continue Reading

The Book I’ll Keep Reading to Him Over and Over Again

February 13, 2019 by Jennifer

I knew we had to add Elbow Grease to our book collection the moment I saw it at Target. The tiny blue monster truck adorning the cover caught my attention because my kid is a big fan of monster trucks. On any given day you can find them scattered all across our family room floor. I purchased the book unaware of how timely its message would be for my kid. Elbow Grease is the story of a small, blue monster truck who is different. It was a few days into the new year when I finally decided on a few things to focus on and said forget the rest! Getting back to my blog was definitely one of Continue Reading

The Homeschool Book That’s Rocking My World…

January 28, 2019 by Jennifer

A few weeks ago I was chatting with a fellow homeschool mom as we took a nature walk with our sons. We talked about curriculums and why we chose to homeschool. We discussed how difficult it is to find your groove when you begin homeschooling. We both admitted we were still searching for groups to join; it can be hard to find your people when you homeschool. My new friend suggested I read a book called, Teaching From Rest. I realized the book had been sitting in the drawer of my nightstand for Continue Reading

If He Learns Anything From Homeschool, I Hope It’s This…

January 23, 2019 by Jennifer

I look forward to Fridays. Not because it's the last day of the week or because we take Friday off from school. I look forward to Fridays because we don't have a single place we have to be. Every other morning we have to hustle to a therapy appointment. On Fridays we can start slow. Last Friday we cuddled up in the oversized chair by the fireplace. We read books together and stayed in our pajamas for a good portion of the day. We decided to stay snuggled up for our spelling test, because Continue Reading
