Five Minute Friday {Abandon}

March 10, 2017 by Jennifer

Somedays you have to abandon the laundry piled up in the chair and the half-packed boxes scattered around your house. Somedays you have to walk barefoot through the grass, chase squirrels and drink Sprittles. You have to soak up the sunshine of a beautiful Spring day. You thank God for a week of good school days and grace upon grace upon grace. You snap a few photos of the kid growing up before your eyes (and capture that wonky eyebrow he shaved off when he got a hold of Continue Reading

Five Minute Friday {Purpose}

March 3, 2017 by Jennifer

Wednesday we found out the offer we put on a new house had been accepted. The purpose of our move is simple: Jackson's education. We are moving to ensure he's in a smaller classroom and part of a district with programs that better meet his needs. He cannot thrive and become all God created him to be in a classroom with 28 other kids. He's barely making it in a classroom of 15. Five Minute Friday {Safe}

February 10, 2017 by Jennifer

It's safe to say Bryan Young impacted a lot of people during his 47 years on earth. Myself included. He was a short dude with a big heart and contagious personality. I've been in shock most of the week; not able to wrap my mind around the fact that my friend was murdered. Eleven years ago I walked into Bryan's office, a reporter for the state newspaper, and a friendship was born. I snapped a photo of Bryan for a Q&A I was working on and never dreamed the same photo would show Continue Reading

Five Minute Friday {Breathe}

February 3, 2017 by Jennifer

The phone call should have made me breathe a sigh of relief. The results of the MRI were normal, there were no abnormalities, the nurse said. After hanging up the phone I found myself in a puddle of tears. Tears of relief because there was nothing majorly wrong with my son's brain and tears of frustration because I had hoped that maybe, just maybe the MRI would shed some light on his neurological disorders. Was I crazy to feel this way? I had asked the nurse this exact Continue Reading

Five Minute Friday {Refine}

January 20, 2017 by Jennifer

Today is a big day for America. There will be a lot of pomp and pageantry as the new president is ushered in. I'm not usually one to write about politics; they're pretty much my least favorite thing ever. But this morning as I was praying for our country and the new president, a thought occurred to me. What if Christians refined their thinking? What if we stopped thinking like a democrat? What if we stopped thinking like a republican? What if we started thinking like Continue Reading
