Ten Things I Learned In August

August 31, 2017 by Jennifer

I cannot believe August has already come and gone! It seems like I was just buying school supplies and sending Jackson to his first day of Kindergarten. We now have two weeks of school under our belts and we're gearing up for a fun Labor Day Weekend in Texas. As we say goodbye to August, I eagerly anticipate my favorite time of the year - FALL!!!!! Here's a few things I learned during our last month of summer... I'm On Two Book Launch Teams In the next few months I will be promoting Holley Continue Reading

What If You Couldn’t Speak? {Five Minute Friday}

August 18, 2017 by Jennifer

Jackson is talking up a storm these days and he talks about superheroes A LOT! The Hulk, Ironman, Thor and Captain America. This year as we prepare for the 2017 Apraxia Walk, we are changing things up! We have a new team name, but we’re still raising funds for a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. To My Son On Your First Day of Kindergarten

August 17, 2017 by Jennifer

We've been talking about this day for months; you've daily asked if it was time to go to kindergarten. Each time we drive by your new school you exclaim, Jackson's Kindergarten! and often follow up with a fist pump for emphasis. You're so excited and I hope nothing snuffs that out. Your Lightening McQueen backpack and matching lunchbox are ready. You've met your teacher and checked out your classroom. Today I will walk you in and although I'm excited for you, I'm also a little Continue Reading

Last year was a difficult year. We were in a school district where kids like Jackson easily fall through the cracks. If you didn't have an Autism diagnosis or a severe disability, there wasn't really a place for you. Jackson often came across as just a behavior problem. We knew early on that the Continue Reading

Eight Things I Learned In July

July 31, 2017 by Jennifer

I haven't published a blog post in a month! Writing has sort of taken a backseat this summer. Jackson and I are soaking in the last of these summer days and I'm trying to come to terms with the fact he's about to start Kindergarten. Where in the world did the past five years go? I feel like there will be plenty of time for writing when he's in school full-time. Right now we are going to the pool, stopping at Classic 50's for Happy Hour and taking too many trips to the toy store. July was a Continue Reading
