Five Minute Friday {Visit}

January 24, 2014 by Jennifer

IMG_2501This year God is whispering to my soul.

He’s asking me to visit a place I haven’t been in almost five years.

And it’s hard to surrender.

He wants me to visit a place of rest.

To sit, soak Him up, and stay a while.

A place with fewer to-do lists.

A place where I’m not worried about platforms or book sales.

A place of trusting Him for what’s next.

A place where I write simply because I love it and I can’t live without written words.

A place where I curl up in my favorite red chair and cuddle with my son under fuzzy blankets.

A place where being a mother is enough.

A place where I get lost in a good book.

He’s asking me to visit a place that is so out of my norm.

And all I know to do is simply say yes.

***Join me Monday, as I dive deeper into this place God is asking me to go.***

Yes, yes. I’ve been learning about this too. 🙂 Hope you have a good weekend with that adorable boy of yours!

What a great reminder! So glad I visited from FMF. Be blessed in your rest.

As I read your words I say “Yes!” You’re speaking my language and I say “Amen!”

In the back of my mind, I hear “Mercy Seat” and it seems I’m sensing that you are sitting there, with Him… what a wonderful picture you’ve presented – thanks so much!

Saying “yes” is not easy. Seems like it would be, but we get so busy with our lists and projects. Most moms would say they wish they had said “yes” more to those moments of really paying attention to a child’s need. And doesn’t our soul long for rest? Time for a visit for sure! Thanks for this image.

Joy – I’m trying. I don’t want to look back one day and wish I’d done things differently with my son. Soaking in the moments of these toddler years.

    Such a good word!

I love the scripture that says: “…even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.” ~Exodus 34:21

I pray God blesses your times together so much so that you have a sustained longing for resting in Him!

    Thank you for sharing!

Just do it! Just sit and soak it all in. I determined today to do that with #FMF and I just let my cursor randomly pick sites to read! So glad it landed here. Want to look in your book about adoption. My 4 grandchild lives in the Congo right now, but we’re praying he’s with us by the end of the year. God bless as you continue on the journey.

Yes, friend, that is a good place. He called there last year.
