These words represent Easter to me just as much as the story found in the pages of the Bible. It doesn’t matter how many times I sing these lyrics, the same emotion courses through my veins. With each beat of the drum, hope fills my soul. I lift my hands to the King of Kings and I imagine how glorious it will be when I sing these words in His presence.
This is the hope that follows the bloody cross.
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
Close your eyes and imagine it. Jesus, bursting forth in glorious day.
That is Easter.
Today, “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called–his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.” (Ephesians 1:18)
Wishing you a blessed and joy filled Easter!
